Coast Contra is a Los Angeles-based rap collective formed in 2015 by Mario Lozano Mosquera, Eric Jamal Morrison, and twin brothers Taj Austin and Ras Austin (twin sons of R&B singer Teedra Moses and West Coast rapper Ras Kass). Coast Contra is celebrated for their raw lyricism, dynamic stage energy, and viral freestyle sessions that have captivated millions online. The group fuses classic hip-hop fundamentals with forward-thinking production—bridging generations and resonating deeply with both tastemakers and fans.Their first single, “Queen & Slim” ft. BJ the Chicago Kid was the featured title track from the movie Queen & Slim. In 2022, they had a television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and were featured on the song “Destruction” in the album moMINTs by rapper Tobe Nwigwe. Coast Contra first developed a cult following in 2022 with multiple freestyle videos and with their hit single “Never Freestyle”.
